Dental Veneers
Cosmetic Dentistry today has an array of treatment options to chose from to improve your smile and add that ever desired sparkle to it. Dental Veneers is one such amazing option. They are a wafer-thin layer of super strong porcelain. When bonded to the teeth they create a natural looking beautiful new surface.
Porcelain veneers can correct many cosmetic problems.
- They can alter and improve the Size, shape and colour of teeth.
- Close small spaces between teeth.
- It can Lengthen and shorten teeth to add certain characteristics to your smile.
- Correct Stained/Discoloured teeth
- Fix Fractured teeth
- Correct minor twists, overlaps and gaps
There are two types of porcelain veneers
The Traditional Veneers and No Prep veneers.
Traditional veneers are commonly used and versatile. Here, a small portion of the surface enamel is removed to create space for the veneers to sit. The procedure is painless and irreversible. These veneers are planned and prepared in the dental laboratory using the very latest technology. They are then bonded to the teeth with resin cements that are hardened with a special curing light. The procedure may take anywhere between 1-2 weeks.
The ‘No prep veneers’ are less invasive and therefore reversible. It involves no surface removal and is bonded to the existing tooth enamel. But these have limitations. With Minor Orthodontics and Teeth Whitening, No Prep Veneers may be helpful in achieving optimal results.
Although super strong, porcelain veneers are not indestructible. It is advisable to avoid hard and sticky foods, chewing on ice, biting nails, opening bottles etc. And if you grind your teeth, wear a night guard to protect the veneers. Unlike natural teeth, veneers resist coffee and tea stains or cigarette smoke etc. Maintenance is very simple. Routine brushing and flossing can save the day. With proper care, they can last longer.
Dental Laminates
If you’ve ever wondered why so many individuals in public life have such perfect smiles, you might be surprised to find out how many of them have had cosmetic dental work!
One way that we can make your smile more attractive is to place porcelain laminate veneers or jacket crowns. Porcelain veneers are translucent, thin laminates made to improve the aesthetics (shape, spacing, color) of natural teeth, to correct crowding, or to replace composite bonding.
